Our Mission

The CCECJ leads projects and aims to support organizations working in the areas of environmental and climate justice to address the social, economic, political, and health effects of environmental racism and climate change impacts in Indigenous, Black, and other racialized communities in Canada. As such, the CCECJ works for the environmental protection of Indigenous, Black and other racialized communities with passion and with a strong commitment to fearless social engagement.

Our Objectives

  1. Promote and foster a vibrant environmental justice movement in Canada through the development of new environmental justice initiatives and projects
  2. Serve as a “watchdog” by tracking and reporting instances of environmental racism and climate vulnerabilities in Indigenous, Black and other equity seeking communities
  3. Increase resilience to environmental racism and climate change for communities affected by these issues
  4. Compile resources and materials on environmental racism and climate justice to provide education and training
